What Is My Jewellery Made From?
The Glass
Made from a combination of real stained glass from vintage windows, locally sourced sheets and offcuts from local artists and industry.
The Charm
A combination of alloy and stainless steel charms, each one can be worn to sit at the nape of the neck or hang gently down the back to add to your look.
The Chain
A 24-inch tarnish-proof stainless steel chain, the adjustable chain can clasp at any length, allowing the stained glass pendant to be worn at any length desired.
The Solder
Lead-free and skin-safe, made largely from a tin alloy. It bonds to the copper foil wrapped around each piece, sealing and strengthening the glass so it sits comfortably against the skin.
How is it made?
Cutting the glass
Each heart is scored by hand using a glass cutter, then snapped cleanly along the line with running pliers, turning a flat sheet into a rough heart shape.
Grinding
The cut edges are smoothed and refined on a glass grinder until the heart is exactly the right shape, size and fit.
Copper foiling
Each edge is carefully wrapped in a thin strip of adhesive copper foil tape. This is what the solder bonds to, sealing and securing the glass into its final shape.
Soldering
With a steady hand and a heated soldering iron, lead-free solder is worked along the copper foil. This step takes precision and craftsmanship.
How to Care for Your Piece?
Keeping the Shine
The glass will never fade, but if your piece isn't as shiny as it once was, a gentle scrub with a very fine 0000 grade steel wool or an old toothbrush with a little detergent will bring it back to life.
Rinsing & Drying
Rinse under clean water and dry thoroughly with a clean cloth or microfibre cloth.
